Classes
for Everyone!
Team Dance & Cheerleading
squads focus
on “performance”. All recreation dance squads learn pom dance style, with
some technique training. The competition dance squads cover a broader
scale focusing on various dance styles including pom, jazz, lyrical, and
hip hop. For competition squads there is more emphasis on technique, and
evaluations are sometimes held for class placement. Cheer squads focus on
routines that includes dance, cheer, tumbling, and stunting. Grades
Kindergarden-12th.
Dance and Cheer performance teams purchase uniforms and perform at various events throughout
the year. In addition to monthly tuition, other costs may include (but
may not be limited to) hair accessories, shoes, and competition fees.
These groups begin classes in the fall and practice through the end of
April. New students may not register after September. See back page for
further details.
Tumbling Cheer tumbling curriculum is designed to teach or improve the tumbling
skills needed for cheerleading. Focal points include training for strength,
flexibility, body control, and connecting a round-off to a flip flop.
More advanced skills are taught upon progression. Grades
Kindergarden-9th.
Toddler tumbling is geared for toddlers who like to burn energy
and have fun! The curriculum focuses on physical strength at a young age,
flexibility, coordination skills, and structure. Ages 3-4.
Creative Movement/Pre Ballet is an introduction to
ballet for younger dancers. Classes focus on creativity, music, body
movements, and beginner ballet steps. Age’s 3-6.
Ballet is the basis of all
dance styles. Classical ballet teaches correct body placement and
technique while disciplining the mind and body. Classes educate the
dancer in diverse styles of ballet with instructor’s backgrounds French and
American methods. Proper class placement for each dancer will ensure
technical and motivational advancement. Age’s 6 and up.
Jazz Dance is a combination of
ballet, hip hop, jazz and modern dance styles. This class will build
strength and performance ability focusing on combinations. This dance
style is for those who want to better memory and performance skills,
strengthen and tone, and learn to move with style. Age’s 7
and up.
Tap dance is a perfect way
for students to release energy while having fun! This class teaches
timing and rhythm, in addition to memory and coordination
skills. Age’s 3 and up.
Hip Hop dance is for dancers or
cheerleaders who want an upbeat, trendy style of dance. Street style
dancing is the focus, teaching proper technique and body movement in a
fun and unique way. Age’s 5 and up.
Dynamic Cheer &
Dance reserves the right to change placement of any student for proper
development.
Dynamic has the right
to cancel any class.
Additional Information
Performance Squads
It is very
important you are willing to travel and attend events to perform. There
are out of town events that we will be attending. An event calendar will be
distributed during the first month of classes. There are participant fees
per student for most events, which is determined by the entry fee and
number of students on a team.
Performance Squad
Uniforms
Dance uniforms
are ordered during the first month of classes. Dancers will be measured
during class for sizing. A uniform cost slip will be distributed to each
student listing the payment due date and any accessories needed to
complete their uniform. Cheerleaders will be contacted with a fitting
date/time as well as uniform costs. Performance costs are
NON-REFUNDABLE, no exceptions!
Class observation
You will
be invited to observe your child’s class two times during the season.
Your instructor will invite you into the classroom approximately 15 min
prior to the end of class time. Feel free to bring cameras or video
recorders to catch your child at their best! Parents are welcome to ask
about the progress of their child anytime.
Additional information is provided to registered students regarding class attire,
attendance guidelines, class cancellation policy, and other important
studio news. Check parent news on the
website
for communications and announcements!
Competition
Dance Team
This opportunity is available for 1st-12th
grade students. Class length and costs are broken down by team, and
listed on the website.
All teams are required to attend a team
technique class once a week during the summer session. Ballet and/or Jazz
class is strongly encouraged in addition to team technique during the
summer months. In the fall all competition team members are required to
take ballet. The 1-3rd grade team may choose between ballet or
jazz.
(Click
here for special rates!) In late July and early August team members
will attend choreography workshop(s). All students who wish to
participate on a competition squad must be in attendance for summer
technique and workshops.
The Mini Eclipse team (1st-3rd grades) and Lunar Eclipse team (4th-6th
grades) will learn 3 routines each season, depending upon the skill level
of the group. The Solar Eclipse (7th-9th grades) and Senior team
(9th-12th grades) will learn 4 routines during the season. In some cases
a student may be moved up or down, or the teams may be formed differently
based upon registered dancers. Families are notified when necessary with
any changes to their child’s placement.
Competition
squads mean more dedication…
This includes more class time, an increase in tuition, more competition
fees (multiple routines), and extra uniform costs. However, this can be
very rewarding for your child if she loves dance, is enthusiastic about
attending more often, and has the ability both mentally and physically to
excel. This is a perfect opportunity for children who need more
challenges! If you have further questions or wish to discuss your child’s
placement contact Tracy.
Evaluations are not held for the Mini Eclipse squad. In this age division
most students who want to participate are encouraged to do so. It is good
to speak with Tracy prior to registering if you are unsure. The Senior
team will have evaluations if needed in October.
Storm
Cheerleading Team
The Storm cheer team consists of 6th-9th
graders. The Storm cheerleaders are required to attend a team skills
class once a week during the summer session. This class is designed
specifically to help team member’s progress in stunting skills with new
teammates prior to the fall choreography session. In addition to the team
skills class tumbling is strongly encouraged during the summer months.
Storm cheerleaders are required to take a tumbling skills class during
the season. Tumbling skills is important for team competition! A
choreography workshop will be scheduled between August-September. All
Storm team members must be in attendance for summer classes and
workshops.
