Adaptive Cheerleading & Dance
these
classes are for special needs children in grades K-5th
who do not feel comfortable in a "mainstream"
class. In
cheerleading students will learn basic motions, jumps,
tumbling skills, as well as beginner stunts. In dance students will learn how to count to music
using basic arm motions and dance steps. These classes provide an amazing experience for kids
to make new friends, be a part of a team, and enhance
valuable life skills. Benefits

Cheerleading
is
a recreational class that teaches children the fundamentals
of the sport of cheerleading. Class curriculum includes building strength and
flexibility, learning basic arm motions, jumps, chants,
cheers, basic stunting, and some tumbling and dance. This class focuses on teamwork, building self
confidence and having fun! Grades K-5th
Tumbling is
gymnastics without the use of apparatus. Tumbling classes also include training for strength,
flexibility, and body control. Grades K-12th
Toddler Tumbling is for
toddlers who like to burn energy and have fun! The curriculum focuses on building strength,
flexibility, coordination skills, and introducing young
children to a structured environment.
Performance Dance Team learn
choreographed routines of pom dance style with some emphasis
on jazz technique. These
groups perform at various events throughout the year. Grades K-6th
Competition Dance Team focuses on performing and competing. These teams cover a broader scale focusing on various
dance styles including pom, jazz, lyrical, and hip hop. There is more emphasis on technique, and evaluations
are sometimes held for class placement. Grades 1st -12th
Creative Movement/Pre Ballet is an
introduction to ballet for younger dancers. Classes focus on music, creativity, body movements,
beginner ballet steps and introducing young children to a
structured environment. Ages 3-6
Ballet is
the basis of all dance styles. Classical ballet teaches correct body placement and
technique while disciplining the mind and body. This dance style teaches grace and precision of
movement. Ages 6 & up Pointe class is
offered to advanced ballet dancers. Ages 12 &
up
Lyrical is
a form of dance that combines ballet, jazz, and modern
techniques. Through the lyrics of song, dancers are able to
express the “story” by executing movements in various
ways. Lyrical teaches the dancer independence,
self-expression, creativity and showmanship. Ages 9 & up
Jazz dance is
a combination of ballet, hip hop, jazz and modern dance
styles. This class will build strength and performance
ability focusing on combinations. This dance style is for
those who want to better memory and performance skills,
strengthen and tone, and learn to move with style. Ages 7 & up
Technique class concentrates on body technique and skills needed for
various dance styles, especially used in performance dance.
Curriculum includes stretching, jumps, leaps and
turns. It is a
combination of ballet and jazz with an emphasis on skills. Grades 1st-12th
Tap dance is a
perfect way for students to release energy while having fun! This class teaches timing and rhythm, in
addition to memory and coordination skills. Ages 3 & up
Hip Hop dance is
for students who want an upbeat, trendy style of dance. Street style dancing is the focus, teaching proper
technique and body movement in a fun and unique way. Curriculum is age appropriate!
Ages 5 & up
ZUMBA®
is
a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates
Latin and international music and dance movements, creating
a dynamic, exciting, exhilarating, and effective fitness
system. The
ultimate “Fitness Party” combines fast and slow rhythms
that tone and sculpt the body using an aerobic/fitness
approach to achieve a unique blended balance of cardio and
muscle-toning benefits. Ages 13 &
up
